Affiliate and sponsor disclosure

Right now

There are no affiliate links and no sponsors on this site. These rules are written down before the first one.

Affiliate links

• Only for things that genuinely help on the water or around the Bay, like gear or charters.
• If you buy or book through one, the company may pay us a commission. Your price is the same either way.
• The disclosure sits right next to the link, not just down here, and every link carries the sponsored tag.

Sponsors

• A sponsor is named with the words “Sponsored by”, every time.
• Sponsors don't see stories before they're published and don't choose what we cover.

What money can't buy

• A story, or a kinder one.
• A spot in the Field Guide.
• Silence about a problem on the water.

This follows the Federal Trade Commission's rules on endorsements. Updated September 2026.
